Oscars 2016

So there we have it the biggest night in Hollywood has been and what a night it was. A night of highs and lows. With no surprise that Leo finally won his Oscar…. The red carpet looks this year have been spectacular and we have seen some key trends running through the event.

the white looks

So whites have featured heavily at the Oscars this year with my ultimate favourite going to Lady Gaga wearing to brilliant Brandon Maxwell. Brandon used to be Lady Gaga stylist before setting up his own clothing line so he knows exactly how to dress the star. Absolutely flawless…. He will be a designer to watch this season. Plunge was also a trend the followed through the red carpet with Olivia Wilde showing us the classy way of a complete plunge in this Valentino Haute Couture number.

pastels looks

Next up we have the pastel numbers. Pale green was especially popular on the red carpet with the stylish Cate Blanchett in another plunging number by Armani Prive. Cate looks the height of sophistication and she can do no wrong this red carpet season. This dress is in my top 3 of dresses for the night.

blue looks

Into the blue was another big trend of the night with various different textures and fabrics showing the blue is clearly the new black. I must say Oscar winner Brie Larson looked the picture of Hollywood glamour in this number by Gucci. But her make up just completed the whole look for me. Honourable mention has to go out to Sophia Vergara she worked this Marchesa dress to perfection.

worse looks

And now on to my worse looks of the night… I’m sorry Kate but I cannot forgive you for the dress. Yes I applaud you for trying something different and out of the box than your normal red carpet looks but this is just not flattering at all. This Ralph Lauren number is just not one of my favourites. As for Heidi Klum….. I can’t even. Just a ball of candyfloss.

favourite looks

As now on to the Oscar winning looks of the night…. I absolutely love Alicia Vikander choice for the ceremony. It is just so different to what we all expected and she was really the stand out in this custom Louis Vuitton dress, with the subtle make up and hair this look is just everything for me. I also have to hand it to Charlize Theron this is how you do a plunge. People always say it is very risky to wear a red dress on the red carpet but this is just absolutely gorgeous. I think it is very hard not to look good in Dior.

I can’t believe the Oscars are now over…. Now to wait till next year Award Season….
