Brand Spotlight: Rodial

So I got the opportunity to attend the Harvey Nichols x Rodial Glow Day and I am so glad that I did. It was such an amazing event that I got a chance to sit down and just have someone pamper me. So with a glass of bubbly in hand I take a seat and the lovely Gemma starts to access my skin and pick some products for me to try. This year I have really started to look after my skin more so I was interested to look at the skincare more so but as I had the time we went through skincare and makeup and I have to say I am in love with everything I tried out.

So if you keep up to date on instagram you would have seen a few weeks ago Kim Kardashian West using the Dragon Blood lip mask from Rodial and literally now everyone is talking Rodial. But if you take a moment to look into their range of products are phenomenal. This brand is luxury and you are getting products that use unique and innovative ingredients to tackle a wide range of skin concerns.

That being said I mainly suffer with dry skin with a few areas that are oily. So we start off with products from the Dragon’s Blood Collection. First to take off a days worth of make up we use a the Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water. This is really a step up from a normal micellar water as well as it being gentle and hydrating for the skin. The water also contains vitamin B3 which will illuminate and even skin tone.

Now with my dry skin we then dipped into the Bee Venom collection with the cleansing balm. Now this is a real game changer for me. I have never combined to cleansing products before until I came to Rodial and now I am questioning what I have been doing all this time. This balm is especially good for those with a drier skin type. All you need is two pumps of the balm and massage into your dry skin. When you splash your face with warm water the product turns into a milky cleanser and then you can wash off with a muslim cloth and warm water. After just these 2 steps my skin looks and feels instantly hydrated.

I have never seen my skin looking so hydrated and bright so at this point I am excited to try the next product. I tell you that I am not disappointed. This serum is packed full on ingredients designed to help maintain hydration in your skin so your skin is smooth and plumped. Just to name a few of the key ingredients you have: Dragon’s Blood, Hyaluronic Acid, Wheat Proteins, Tetrapeptide-6 but to name a few. Key thing to note when applying the serum is to allow about 30 seconds before moving on to your next skincare step.

Now at this point I am already thinking it doesn’t get any better but then I am introduced to this eye gel and at this point I was ready to hand my credit card over. My under eye have slowly started to become a problem for me with dark circles forming under eye. My  daily routine sees me up some days at 4.30am and not going to sleep till late. So this was a product that I was in desperate need. A little product goes a long way so you are getting great value for your money. The way the product is designed you get no wastage as you literally push down on the top and product dispenses. All you need is to pop it on your ring finger and tap underage from the inner corner of your eye all the way out to your temple. Feels truly amazing.

So after all this skincare I decided to choose my top 3 products that I liked from the evening to come home with me and started using them in my skincare routing right away. Ive noticed a huge difference in my skin and I feel as a result my makeup looks a lot better because it has a well hydrated canvas to work on. I am making my next appointment soon so I can try some more of the makeup products and I can write about them as this trip I was solely concentrating on the skincare but I did get my makeup done with Rodial products and I was pleasantly surprised at the results (See Below).

And yes that is me with the founder of Rodial – Maria Hatzistefanis.

Huda Beauty…. Winter Solstice

Huda Beauty has really stepped up there game this year with so many product launches. All of which have been a massive hit in my books. Can she do no wrong? So I took a day trip to Paris so and opportunity to visit the Sephora on Champs-Élysées so what better opportunity to go and see the new Huda Beauty collection.

Well I was a little too late to sample everything as the make up artist told me everything has flown off the shelves so I’m going to have to order online the lip strobes which I am slowly falling in love with every instagram post I see. But not all is lost I managed to find the Winter Solstice Highlighter Palette and I literally fell in love.

So first lets discuss this packaging. Every single new product she brings out there is no detail spared and this palette is no exceptions even down to the inner slip. But beyond the packaging lets talk about the product inside. So for £40 at Cult Beauty you get 28.5g of product which is split between 4 highlight colours.  3 x 7.5 g Powder Highlighters Arctic Glow (warm blue multi-tonal illuminator), Northern Lights (holographic highlighter with duo-chrome tones in soft gold and bronze), Winter Rose (dusky pink infused with a shot of silver) and 1 x 6 g Poured Melted Strobe in Frosted Kiss (icy iridescent pink).

There are so many ways you can use this product you can sweep the highlighters over your cheekbones for an instant glow or pop it onto your lids for a pop of colour. The options are endless. The best thing about highlighters is that it is really a multi use tool. I mean just look at the Fenty Highlighters. I actually use them less as a highlighter and more as eyeshadows.

Overall this is a huge hit for me as the possibilities are endless. I will definitely be trying the lip strobes next.

When you have a £50 Space NK voucher to spend….

Well I don’t need an excuse to go into Space NK so when you get a £50 voucher from the last free gift you received then its time to head down to my local store Muswell Hill.

It didn’t take me long to decide that I need to expand my Diptyque collection with this gorgeous Coffret découverte 5 faux de parfum (Discovery set of 5 eau de parfum). You can purchase this from Space NK

In this set you get 5 scents in Do Son – L’Ombre dans l’Eau – Philosykos – Tam Dao – Vetyverio. Each of them are 7.5ml in size.

“Perfume is an art and art is a journey. Let your senses and your mind travel through five olfactory landscapes with this collection of beautiful Diptyque fragrances” – Diptyque

You really do get a range of fragrances in this set with each one different from the last.

Do Son: Divinely mysterious tuberose unveils its powers of seduction on a bed of berries and flowers. It is embraced by the fresh sweetness of a sea breeze, like a pagoda on the edge of the Gulf of Tonkin.

L’Ombre Dans L’Eau: Reminiscent of a walk in an English garden, filled with Bulgarian rose petals and leaves of the blackcurrant bush. The scent of sap graciously freshens up this idyllic and rural escapade.

Philosykos: The sun at its zenith heated the earth, the dry wind carried the scent of the trees and their fruit. Philosykos is an ode to the entire fig tree: the green, pungent freshness of the leaves, the wood warmed in the sun, the milky flavour of the figs.

Tam Dao: a spicy fragrance based on the scents of the rainforest. It has a musky blend of rosewood, cypress and ambergris, coupled with rich and exotic sandalwood from Goa.

Vetyverio: Like inlaid wood, vetiver reveals unexpected facets: sometimes fresh, other times smoky or even subtly floral. Vetiver from Haiti takes centre stage, it reveals itself in a pure state, without artifice, drawing its elegant, smoky nature from this volcanic rock.

The set is limited edition so expect to fly out way before Christmas. It really does make a beautiful present for someone special or perfect treat of the week for yourself. Either way this is a definite winner in my books. Tres Bien Diptyque!

Pre Christmas Treats

Well Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year so it is only right that I treat myself to something a little bit special before the big day. Plus I missed out on the Liberty Advent Calendar this year so this will make up for it.

So what is better than a candle gift set from my favourite brand of the moment Diptyque.  Now I know that it is not the cheapest of things (£120 exclusively from Space NK) but if you have ever had a Diptyque candle you will know why I was willing to pay the price. So first off lets just marvel in the beautiful packaging that you candles are encased in.

Once you open up the box you are greeted by 12 of there classic scents all in 35g form. So you are actually spending £10 per candle for this set which is a very good price considering there 70g candles normal retail for £24.

The set contains: Mimosa, Baies, Roses, Fig, Jasmine, Cypress, Amber, Tuberose, Feu de Bois, Pomander, Vanilla and Santal

Black Friday Space NK

As soon as this landed in my mailbox I literally shrieked in excitement. I’m hoping this promo is going to be a good one. So in preparation start filling your shopping basket with goodies!!!! Last year they ran a promotion of spend £250 and receive a gift of 25 beauty products. However that promotion has already ran a few weeks back so we might be in luck for a percentage off site wide. Bare in mind that this will just be a website offer only so if you are in the market for new makeup pop into your local store prior to colour match before ordering online.

I’m addicted… Literally

So when I wrote my last post on Hourglass cosmetics I tried a lipstick called I’m Addicted! Ironic that as I am so addicted to this brand it is not even funny. The fact that is great for sensitive skin and inparticular to those who suffer with eczema it is a no brainer that I am going to try some more products.

So I went back to try the shades of lipstick as I already purchased the Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick in I’m Addicted I was keen to try out some of the bolder colours to see if the colour pay off was just as intense. Let me tell you I am more than just addicted, I’m impressed! The colours I tried were “I Live For” and “One Time”.

I Live for – Vibrant Coral

One Time – Aubergine

Next on my try list was the Veil Mineral Primer. Every time I start researching primers this one is always top of the list and now I can see why. One of these primers is sold every minute around the world which just proves how popular it really is. Where do I even start with what this beauty does. Well, it is formulated to conceal redness in skin (even will conceal rosacea) to even out skin tone.

You also get the added benefits of the primer minimising the look of visible pores, fine lines and imperfections. Another amazing thing about Veil is that it repels water so your makeup looks freshly applied all day. Perfect for those days when you are sweating it out commuting on the trains. As with all of Hourglass products it is made without paragons, fragrance, sulphates to name a few. Also good to note that it is also Vegan friendly too.

So thought it would be good to show you the results of using this makeup. This is me 13 hours after applying the base of Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation stick with Veil Mineral Primer on the face. Topped off with Ambient Lightening Edit – Volume 3. No touch up were done to face during the day. Just lipstick re applied! Are you addicted yet?

Real Techniques – Powder Bleu Collection

I am a very big believer that the tools that you use make a huge difference in the finish of your makeup. You can buy the most expensive makeup in the world but if you don’t have the right tools it is never going to look flawless. So I am always on the look out for brushes that make my life of applying makeup that much easier and that is where the new Real Techniques Powder Bleu collection comes into play.

So the reason why I love these brushes is that it uses FauxBleu technology that uses synthetic bristles that mimics the likeness of blue squirrel hair which is one of the rarest and softest bristles that you can buy. It also make applying loose powder products an absolute dream.

I have tried the B01 Soft Powder Brush and used it with my setting powder and it really does apply the product nicely and does not hold on to the product. I just love how soft this brush feels when you are applying your powder. So overall I am a lover of this range and if you are in the market for some new brushes then consider the Powder Bleu collection.

In the collection there are 5 different brushes and a puff to choose from and they are all to buy individually on . Prices on this range from £12 to £25.

Guerlain…. Youth Watery Oil Review

So it is skincare time and here is the most amazing product that I have ever tried. After just a few weeks of trying this product I noticed a real difference. What is this product you ask… It is the Guerlain Abeille Royale Watery Oil. This product has really made my skin smoother and illuminates. It has now won a pride and place in my skin routine forever.

The key claims from Guerlain are: “the new ‘Black Bee Repair’ technology boost the effectiveness of the Ouessant Black Bee pure honey and Guerlain’s exclusive royal jelly. This non-greasy oil-water product harnesses the power of a serum, the richness of an oil and the lightness of water. Once applied, skin is plumper, smoother and more radiant”.

If you follow the steps the product  will absorb straight into your skin and leave your hands bone dry and not greasy at all which means the product never get waisted.

Also have to mention that this product isn’t cheap at £92 from Selfridges however you are only using a couple of drops a day so when you work it out that way a bottle will last quite a while. My last bottle of Guerlain oil is almost at the end and I have had it about 10 months so that is £9.20 per month on an liquid gold…. (well honey).

No makeup selfie… 10 months into a new skincare routine.

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Lip Palette Review

Well another week goes by and another new product has joined my ever growing collection. This time it is the Anastasia Beverly Hills lip palette. Now I know this is not a new product (Launch in early 2017) but it was always on my radar. So after a recent haul in Sephora I got a chance to see the product first hand and see what it is all about. I must say as soon as I saw it and spoke to the lovely Makeup artist I was hooked and it went straight in my basket. I am always on the look out for new an exciting products that are different to what you would normally see and this palette is a great one so you can create your custom shade which means you don’t have to buy a billion different lipsticks to find your match… You can just make it.

So what do you get for your money. Well you get a palette consisting of 18 different shades ranging from primaries and neutrals to bold bright colours. You also get a mixing plate and double -ended lip brush and spatula. At £38 ( you are looking at  around £2.11 per colour. So when you look at it that way you are really getting a great deal for endless colour options you can make. Obviously if you get a chance to visit a Sephora in Europe or further afield then with the exchange rates will make it cheaper to purchase but beware of ordering online from another country as you could get hit with hefty custom charges.

So with 18 shades the options are endless and the shade descriptions are as follows:

Row 1:

1 – Peachy Pink

2 – Read Oak Brown

3 – Burnt Orange

4 – Rich Oak Brown

5 – Burnished Berry

6 – Rich Mahogany Brown

Row 2:

7 – Vibrant Coral

8 – Warm Sandy Brown

9 – Vibrant Orchid Purple

10 – Berry Pink

11 – Soft Oak Brown

12 – Vibrant Pink

Row 3:

Primary 1 – White

Primary 2 – Black

Primary 3 – Red

Primary 4 – Yellow

Primary 5 – Blue

13 – Blackened Berry

When you see the primary colours you are a bit taken back first but after a little research it is good to know these few little tricks when putting together your colours. From the primaries White is good to add if you want to lighten a colour and Black to darken the colour. The Red is good to add warm up the shade colour. Yellow is the colour to use if you want to neutralise berry colours or to warm pink shades. Blue is the colour to use to cool or neutralise peachy coral lips. So after you have mastered the primary colours and what they are used for the world is your oyster. Below I have found some great colour combinations to start you off on your colour creations.

After plenty of playing around with this palette you could probably guess I absolutely love it. It takes customisation to the next level and you can really create unique shades specific to you. I also need to say the pigment is fantastic and your colour does last. So I would definitely say this is a must in every makeup enthusiast collection.

The Products that I Love… October Edition.

Well we are in the 10th month of the year already and Christmas & New Year is looming round the corner. So I though I would recap on my 2 favourite products so far this month before all the holiday exclusive products start to launch and distracted by all things shinny.

If you are a reader of mine you may already know that I am very big on skincare. So my first product that is on my love list is the Chantecaille Vital Essence. This product has been a key part of my skincare routine for about 2 years now and I really see a difference in using it. The main benefits of the serum is to kick start the collagen production, reduce fine lines and improve skin tone and elasticity. For me these are all the things I need for my skin as a sufferer of Eczema my skin had drastically changed so this product has really changed my skin and I can now say that my skin is better than it has ever been. Not bad for coming up to 30!

It is also great that Vital Essence is composed of 95.5% botanicals including pure rosewater and biosodium hyaluronate. The best way to apply is pump two to three pumps to your fingertips and gently press into the skin. The key part is to press so that the product is absorbed into your skin rather than pulling it across the skin making it ineffective. You can buy Vital Essence from Space NK at £86 (50ml).

The next product that I am loving this month is Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment. I am having a real moment with liquid lips at the moment and I really want to experiment with new colours and move away from the more neutral shade that I tend to lean towards. The colour that I tried out was London Calling and it was truly amazing. The colour is bold and with one swipe of product it covers your lips without streaking. I am really keen to try out some of the bolder reds as I think the formula they have is an absolute winner.

You can buy Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment from Space NK for £23. This liquid lip comes in 18 shades. But be careful the colours are so pigmented they may stain so make sure you are extra carful. It is also a good idea to line your lips when using this product to get the precise finish.

Hope you enjoyed my picks for October… What were your favourites of the month?

See you on the next one xoxo
